The Kitchen is a film of Langlands & Bell’s first collaborative artwork. The film explores their installation of two kitchens constructed side by side. The visitor enters a decrepit old Kitchen replete with rotten floorboards, peeling wallpaper, dirty crockery, and rusty pots and pans. The New Kitchen, a mirror image of the old, is physically inaccessible but lit with prismatic coloured light, and viewed though a fixed window in the wall that divides the two spaces.
