Architecture Club 2017 Autumn Debate
THURSDAY, 5 OCTOBER 6.30 Private View 7.30 Forum & Dinner
HOW DO ARCHITECTS AND ARTISTS BEST INTERACT DURING THE DESIGN PROCESS ON BUILDING PROJECTS?
Traditionally architects have tended to integrate art into their buildings, while international modernists have tended to separate the two completely. However today we are seeing a resurgence in collaboration, so that architects like Eric Parry are working on a single project with artists such as Richard Deacon or Stephen Cox.
Join award winning art critic and historian Richard Cork as he chairs this lively event between Charles Holland (Charles Holland Architects), artists Langlands & Bell, Stella Iaonnou (Sculpture in The City) and Roger Hawkins (Hawkins\Brown).
The debate at Squire and Partners new Brixton offices, The Department Store will be accompanied by an exhibition of images of works by Architecture Club members illustrating how architecture and art complement each other, or where the architecture is art in itself. The debate and dinner will take place upstairs in Squire and Partners rooftop bar and restaurant.
