Exhibition and installation designed and curated by Langlands & Bell with artworks selected from the ‘Artists at Work‘ collection of Katrin Bellinger depicting artists studios without the artist present. The artworks selected by Langlands & Bell were installed on and around ‘Serpentine‘ an ‘S’ shaped ‘line of beauty’ sculpture designed by the artists.
Together with Ideas of Utopia and Near Heaven, Absent Artists was one of three interlinked exhibitions by Langlands & Bell that explored Charleston as a site of early English modernism: social, aesthetic and intellectual experimentation and innovation, that opened simultaneously at Charleston, East Sussex, UK, from 01 04 to 29 08 2022.
