Passed in the Present 1987 was an installation consisting of 6 ‘chair’ sculptures we made for our solo exhibition White November at the Air Gallery in London in 1987-8. Five of the six chairs were finished in white satin lacquer, one was charred throughout. Each chair contained a model of a building under glass in the seat void. The chosen buildings were all selected from the neighbourhood around the gallery: a corner tower at Smithfield Market, the church of St Bartholomew the Great, flats at the Roseberry Avenue tenement, St Barts Hospital.

Catalogue: White November 1987, pub. Langlands & Bell.
Collections: The installation was divided up in 1989 and the ‘chairs’ sold individually. They are now in various private collections in Germany and the UK.
