Langlands & Bell

Who's Afraid of Red Black and Blue?

2005

Four screen computer animation / data projection.

Infinite duration loop.

Who's Afraid of Red Black and Blue? is a simulated digital environment of slowly dissolving images that envelops the viewer. It's content is constructed from randomly accessed acronyms collated in four categories: Banned Organisations, Liberation Armies and Security Agencies; NGOs (Non Governmental Organisations); Aviation Destination Codes and Top Level Domain Codes. It is in many ways digital shorthand for the intricate networks that abstractly bear on our everyday lives; networks of access, influence and power....the convergence of such networks; political, military, and the corporate multinational resonates particularly with Langlands & Bell's previous sculptural work.
