Language of Places

1999

Computer animation / data projection.

Infinite duration loop.

As life becomes more complicated and systems multiply we have an increasing need for abbreviations to identify elements and events. In time these codes generate new meanings and new cultural tendencies.

Using the three letter code identifiers for international airports Language of Places maps the persistent transience of contemporary urban life - a poetry of places where landing points offer departures into the imaginary, where destinations multiply, divide, and supplant each other endlessly.
