MOMA MUHKA MAXXI MADRE SMAK LACMA TATE As they lead urban regeneration projects around the world many museums have become international leisure brands with their abbreviated names key to their public image strategy. A Muse Um juxtaposes these acronyms with photographs of museum facades, grounds, and interiors. In a multi coloured random sequence, the neo-classical gives way to the brutalist and the post modern; monumentality and the language of corporate lobbies is supplanted by the transparency of glass. Like the acronyms by which they are known the museum's different architectural styles are codes that define social and cultural space. The outdoor sculpture, the cafe, the sky lit white cube, the row of flags, the gift shop, all have become universally familiar.
